Linkbuilding Tips - Backlink SEO For Killer Website Marketing
So if you're just looking for linkbuilding tips, you're going to be blown away by this article. The basics of linkbuilding is the requirement to find the right balance between quantity and quality. But before you do any linkbuiling, you need to know how many links you currently have and you need to know what your competitors have.
Competitor backlink analysis
When you analyze a competitor's website to find out how many backlinks they have and where they come from, the best tool you can use is both amazing and free: Majestic SEO. In their words, they provide "Competitive Link Intelligence to SEO specialists."
What this actually means is that anyone can go on their site and find out just how many links any web page has. In the past, people used Google for that. Then we found out that Google will intentionally give you a different answer every time and none of them will be even close to all the links.
Then we all switched to Yahoo because it's more comprehensive. but not anywhere near comprehensive enough. Majestic has their own web crawlers that constantly run the Internet and catalog every link on the Internet. Use them for your reports on both your own sites and your competitors and you'll be amazed.
Quality Versus Quantity
Now, it's a well known truism in the backlink SEO biz that a website with a handful of high-quality, one-way backlinks can beat the pats off of a website with a thousand low quality links. However, winning the SEO game isn't just about getting to the top of Google search engine ranks (SERPS) for a keyword phrase. It's also about getting as much targeted traffic as possible,
And targeted traffic can come from a lot of lower quality link building tactics.
Linkbuilding tactics that don't work
It used to be that you could swap links with a lot of people and that would really help you in the SERPS. Not anymore. Google figured that one out a long time ago so don't waste your time.
well, let me qualify that. If you get a request to swap links with someone who is in a related field to yours so Google sees it as a legitimate link, AND they are willing to use your keyword phrase as the anchor text for the link, AND they have a higher Google pagerank than you do, THEN by all means swap links with them. They lose; you win. Because "Google juice" always runs downhill.
Another failed backlink SEO tactic is blasting the same article out to article directories or blogs all over the Internet. It used to be that you could just post the same article everywhere to generate traffic.
Today, Google will simply find the first one that gets posted and only list that one in the SERPS. The rest of them get ignored. While this still gets your content on a lot of different sites where it might get found, I prefer to both get content spread all over AND get a boost in the SERPS from the same tactic.
Linkbuilding automation...
I used to do all my linkbuilding manually. Not anymore. My time is too valuable. So now I use automation.
By automation I don't mean using linkbuilding services. There are too many questionable services that may create links for you that the search engines will frown upon and could hurt you in the search engines. That's a risk I won't take with my clients.
Instead, I have a combination of software packages and online tools I use to create content and disseminate it all over the Internet on high quality or high page rank websites and blogs.
My favorite SEO building backlinks tools
Content is still king on the Internet. And now more than ever with Google Caffeine. Google and Bing are on a rampage to bring more content (including and especially video) to the masses. So we'll start off with content creation tools.
The Best Article Spinner
I love The Best Spinner. This is a tool that lets you write a single article and using special "spinning" technology, turn it into 250 unique articles. Here's how it works.
You write an article of at least 300 words, preferably 350-400 words (300 words is usually the minimum article most article directories will accept). You load it into The Best Spinner. You ask The Best Spinner to find all the synonyms in the article. It locates them all. You then ask it to create alternate synonyms for all the synonyms it finds.
You can then go through the article and add alternative words for each word in the article. You can even list alternative sentences and alternative paragraphs for the article. The best article spinner then creates up to 250 unique articles by shuffling all the alternative words, sentences and paragraphs.
Obviously, this tool has a lot more tricks to it than this little post can tell. You can read a complete review of it at the best article spinner review (I created a free spinner manual you can download off the review page)...
Social bookmarking tool
Once you've placed articles all over the Internet on article directories (just Google article directory to find a huge list of them), you need to get them found quickly. The easiest way to do that is to get other people to bookmark them for you.
I use SocialADR. The beauty of this tool is you create a listing with them of the pages you'd like to bookmark and other people will bookmark them for you. I have received anywhere from 500-900 unique bookmarks per page from using this service. The results are amazing.
What's more, they let you "spin" your bookmarks so each one of them will look totally unique rather than a bunch of identical bookmarks. This thing really gets results fast.

Blog commenting got me to the top of Google
When the recession was at it's worst, i was sitting at my desk watching the phone not ring. Then a load of metaphorical bricks landed on my head.
If I'm such a backlink SEO wizard, why was I not on the first page of Google for my primary keyword phrase? Can you say, "the cobbler's kids have no shoes?"
So I started a blog commenting campaign. I originally used Google Alerts to notify me of blog posts I could comment on but here's the problem. Google won't tell me which ones don't allow commenting, which ones have no page rank and aren't worth commenting on.
Which meant I had to follow each link and figure out for myself. I got tired of all that time wasting real quick. So I bought Comment Hut. Comment Hut will go out and find the blog posts for me based on whatever keyword phrase I ask it to use.
Then it sorts through the list and dumps any blog that doesn't allow comments. You can also ask it to only show blog posts with a certain page rank or higher.
Voila! I just click on each link and make my comment on the blog and move on to the next one. In 15-20 minutes, I can have 5 or 6 blog comments done and be ready to move on to some other task.
In two months, I went from "can't find him" to first page of Google for Online Marketing Minneapolis. You can read my review of Comment Hut at my blog comment tool review...
Automated content posting
The last tool I want to talk about here is called SEO Linkvine. This tool gives you two options. You can use it to get unique articles or blog posts to populate your websites and blogs, or you can post articles on it to get posted on other people's blogs or websites.
It's actually really simple to use and on the website, they have videos that show exactly how to post your articles, how to spin them, and how to tell the system what kind of blogs and websites you think your content is appropriate for. You can even tell them how many times you want it posted or how many blogs are allowed to post your article.
And finding content to post is just as easy and gives you just as much control. You can say what content you're looking for. People then can submit articles to you. You have the choice of having the articles just automatically upload to your blog or you can have them put in your queue and approve them individually.
I highly recommend you use the manual approval system. I tried the fully automated system and spammers took advantage of it to post crap that had nothing to do with my blog. Live and learn. When they know you're monitoring the articles, people tend to be more honest with their postings.
I hope you found this article on my favorite SEO building software and tools. When you visit the website marketing review site, you'll notice a lot of other tools worth checking out. I've used them all and have found them indispensable in creating a diversity of links.
Remember, link building is a popularity contest and Google expects to find links from related content and also from a variety of different types of sites and content including images, videos, PDFs, presentations, blog posts, article directories, business directories and anything else your fertile mind can dream up. Just make sure the sites are quality and have at the bare minimum a page rank of 1 or better.
