Tools and resources from TC Web Pros July meeting

The topic for the July TC Web Pros was open for anyone to present a favorite tool or resource.  During the session, we took notes online using one of the presented tools etherpad. Click the read more link to check out the transcript from the session.  Or, better yet, go to the live pad and add your favorite resource to keep the list alive.  Some members requested that we add a "tools" or "resources" section to tcwebpros.org -- perhaps this list can serve as the jumping off point for such a section.

Topic:  Cool tools and resources -- stuff we like and use

• 1 Password -- http://www.agilewebsolutions.com/ (shared by Bob Demeules)
  • secure, encrypted storage of passwords, logins, credit card numbers, software licenses, etc.
  • one master password protects the application and database on the computer
  • for Mac, beta out for Windows
  • works well with Dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/) for syncing
  • stores and dynamically remembers the answers to password reminder forms on sites
• IronKey -- https://www.ironkey.com/basic (shared by Kay Schwarzrock)
  • a thumb drive that meets defense department requirements
  • comes with an operating system, browser, email, anti-virus programs
  • you can destroy it if it gets lost
  • your data gets stored in their online safe so that if you lose your thumb drive, you can get a new one with the same data on it
  • it handles logging in but I'm not sure that it does as much as 1password
